Abstract
Interest in interdisciplinary studies has been turned into one of the top priorities at Ferdowsi University of
Mashhad. It has also been the focus of many of the scholarly discussions here at the Faculty of Letters and
Humanities as well. The main objective has been to cross the conventional boundaries of existing academic
disciplines to open up new horizons in interdisciplinary research and to promote cooperation between
different departments.
In the past few years, Department of English at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, has hosted four seminal
academic events in the fields of translation, language, literature and interdisciplinary studies. In 2012, the
department organized the 1 st Conference on Language Teaching & Learning: An Interdisciplinary
Approach (LLT-IA). In 2015, the 2 nd Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language Teaching,
Literature and Translation Studies (LTLTS2-IA) was organized. In 2017, the 3 rd Conference on
Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language Teaching, Literature and Translation Studies (LTLTS3-IA) was
also held. Our department is now honored to hold the 4 th Conference on Interdisciplinary Approaches to
Language Teaching, Literature and Translation Studies (LTLTS4-IA) in 2022.
The LTLTS4-IA secretariat received a host of abstracts covering a wide range of interdisciplinary studies
centering on the core fields of the conference, i.e. literature, language teaching, and translation studies.
After the review of the abstracts, about 71 were selected for oral presentations. Presentations in the teaching
category (totaling to 26). Literature-related topics (up to 26). Translation studies (19 in all). The purpose
has been to introduce a thematic focus to the lectures presented in each session. The question-and-answer
time, considered at the end of each session would give a chance to the audience to pose their questions and
further discuss the theme of the session dealt with in each presentation.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Hamid Reza Shairi, and Dr. Behrouz Mahmoudi
Bakhtiari, Dr. Alireza Jalilifar, Dr. Ali Derakhshan Hesari who kindly accepted our invitation and delivered
their insightful keynote lectures during the two days of the conference. The great zest of our dear panelists
and workshop presenters to create a vibrant atmosphere is greatly appreciated.
We hope that the present conference would create a congenial atmosphere for university professors,
researchers and students to share their findings and to promote a common understanding in language-related
fields.
