Abstract

Diaryl sulfides are important structural components in various applications such as polymers, agrochemicals, natural products, and pharmaceutical intermediates. As a result, their synthesis has become an increasingly important topic for chemists. Recently, much attention has been given to the preparation of diaryl sulfides using reusable catalysts in organic chemistry. In this paper, we describe the fabrication and characterization of a reusable copper metal organic framework (Cu-MOF). We also evaluate its catalytic activity for the preparation of diaryl sulfides through a one-pot two-component coupling reaction of S8, and aryl iodides. To analyze the structure of copper supported on MOF nanostructure, we used a series of spectroscopic techniques including TEM, and XRD. Our results show that Cu-MOF catalyst can effectively catalyze the one-pot two-component coupling reaction. Notably, this study is the first to report the utilization of Cu-MOF catalyst for this type of reaction.
