Abstract
In this study, simultaneous generation and transmission expansion planning is presented in the presence of wind
farms. Short-circuit current constraint is included in the problem, and the impact of wind farms on short-circuit current is
evaluated. This study presents a novel approach for reducing short-circuit current in composite generation and transmission
expansion planning. In this way, new units and lines are determined such that the short-circuit currents of substations are less
than the defined limit. In addition, an optimal level of short circuit is determined and the total cost is reduced. The proposed
method is applied to a real case study, and its performance is demonstrated by comparison with other methods.
