Abstract

"Diarrhea" has a significant impact on sheep production efficiency, but direct microbial feeding (DFM) can be used to decrease it. This study aimed to investigate the effect of probiotic tannase-bacterial additive on the incidence of diarrhea in weaning lambs fed with pomegranate peel (PP). A total of 36 newborn lambs were randomly divided between the treatments (4x9): basal diet, PP, DFM, and PP+DFM. DFM was prepared freshly and contained 49 tannase-producing strains with antipathogenic potential. The tannase additive was administrated orally one mL before feeding. Daily observations of diarrhea were recorded for each lamb and analysed statically. According to the results, the control group had the highest diarrhea score, while the PP and PP+DFM groups had the lowest score, respectively (P<0.05). The simultaneous use of PP and DFM in weaning lambs significantly reduced the diarrhea score
