Abstract
Essential oils of some plants due to its antimicrobial, antioxidant and flavoring properties are used widely in the food industry. In the recent years, increasing the antimicrobial effects of essential oils in combination with other natural antimicrobial agents has been studied by researchers.
Pinus eldarica (Pinaceae) is a great desert pine that tolerates heat, wind and drought conditions. In this Research, chemical constituents of Leaves of Pinus eldarica was studied. Plant materials were collected in June 2016 from a population growing in birjand. Essential oil from Fresh plant parts was produced by hydro distillation using a Clevenger and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC).
Forty-six constituents representing 97.3% of the leaf oil were identified. The results indicated that the major constituents of the leaf oil were germacrene D (26.6%), A-caryophyllene (17.1%), B-pinene (11.8%), B-pinene (7.9%), elemicin (4.3%) and A-humulene (4.2%).
