Abstract

Given a set of homogeneous production units with multiple inputs and muiltiple outputs, the conventional DEA models calculate their (optimistic) efficiency scores based on the given input/output data set. In contrast, inverse DEA models aim to find the desired level of outputs (inputs) of a certain unit assuming that its inputs (outpus) changed, while its efficiency score keeps unchanged. Regarding the fact that basic DEA models can be implemented only when all input and output data are measured in a ratio scale, all existing Inverse DEA models are only capable to deal with ratio scale data. In this research we aim to investigate this issue for units with interval scale data. We formulate an inverse model based on a DEA-based efficiency analysis model for dealing with interval scale data.
