Abstract

In this study, a NiO@bentonite nanocomposite was successfully synthesized and characterized as a novel adsorbent material. The structural and physicochemical properties of the prepared nanocomposite were investigated using appropriate analytical techniques to confirm the formation of the composite and the incorporation of NiO within the bentonite matrix. The adsorption performance of the synthesized nanocomposite was preliminarily evaluated using methylene blue (MB) and eriochrome black T (ECBT) as representative organic dyes in aqueous solutions. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out under ambient conditions to assess the dye removal capability of the material. The results demonstrated that the NiO@bentonite nanocomposite exhibits effective adsorption behavior toward both dyes, indicating its strong interaction with organic dye molecules. These findings suggest that the synthesized NiO@bentonite nanocomposite has promising potential as an efficient and low-cost adsorbent for wastewater treatment applications, while primarily highlighting the successful synthesis and structural stability of the nanocomposite.
