A discussion on “An overview of some classical models and discussion of the signature-based models of preventive maintenance”

Abstract

In this article, the authors discuss some approaches on the optimal strategies for the preventive maintenance of coherent systems or networks. The review is complete and detailed, well structured, and well written. The main part of the paper reviews basic preventive maintenance models whose optimization criteria are developed by using the signature-based reliability of the system lifetime, with a special emphasis on the papers presented by Asadi. One of the possible future developments in this area can be studied by considering the concept of generalized signature of repairable systems introduced by Chahkandi et al
