چکیده مقاله
Carbon-based materials have some properties such as good flexibility, high strength and stability and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity .Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are a new class of nano-carbonaceous materials that because of photoluminescence properties are noticeable .They have high optical , chemical stability and biocompatibility. Low metabolic degradation, bright fluorescence, low toxicity, suitable water solubility and low photo-degradation are other properties of CQDs .The CQDs have an important role in biologic science. For example, CQDs have low toxicity, high biocompatibility, broad absorption, narrow emission spectra and high quantum yield (QY) and can use for imaging. Drug delivery and proper interaction of the drug with the target are the most important factors in drug delivery systems. CQDs have received increasing attention for drug delivery due to fluorescence emission, small size and resultant cell membrane permeability, low toxicity, chemical inertness, water solubility, easy synthesis. Delivering of imaging probes to the brain tumors is a complex technique because of the Blood–Brain Barrier (BBB) and prevent crossing drugs such as foreign proteins, chemicals, and peptides. CQDs are small and can cross among BBB and deliver drugs. Also, the CQDs due to their low toxicity, strong fluorescence emission and broad excitation spectra could also be used for gene delivery and can uptake plasmid – DNA with excellent transfection efficiency.
