چکیده مقاله

Background: Adipose tissue is recognized as an endocrine organ that produce various bioactive molecules known as adipokines, including resistin, which is found to be highly expressed in individuals with obesity and cardiovascular diseases. This study aims to investigate the effects of supra-maximal and moderate-intensity interval training on serum levels of resistin, as well as various cardiometabolic health indices. Hypothesis: Supra-maximal and Moderate interval training induce comparable effects on serum resistin levels and cardiometabolic health indices. Study Design: Cohort Study. Methods: Thirty overweight adult women were assigned to one of three groups: Supra-maximal interval training (HIIT: 2 sets of 8 intervals, each with 30 seconds of exercise at 100–110% MAS followed by 30 seconds of rest at 50% MAS; over 6 weeks with 3 sessions per week), moderate interval training (MIIT: 2 sets of 8 intervals, each with 30 seconds of exercise at 70–80% MAS followed by 30 seconds of rest at 50% MAS; over 6 weeks with 3 sessions per week), and a control group. Results: Triglyceride levels were significantly higher in the control group compared to both the HIIT and MIIT groups (P = 0.02 and 0.01, respectively). Additionally , the HDL-C levels were significantly elevated in the experimental groups compared control group (P = 0.04 and 0.03, respectively). The serum level of resistin significantly increased in the control group from pretest levels (P= 0.001). Between-group comparisons showed that resistin levels were significantly higher in the control group than the experimental groups (P = 0.001 and 0.01 respectively). Conclusion: Six weeks of HIIT can reduce resistin levels and improve cardiometabolic health indicators in non-postmenopausal women. while six weeks of MIIT does not reduce resistin, it does decrease systolic blood pressure and obesity-related factors in non-menopausal women. Clinical Relevance: These findings demonstrate that supra-maximal interval training may be recommended to control bioactive molecules produced from adipose tissue that are linked to cardiovascular diseases.
