Abstract

Total transfer capability (TTC) is an important index which presents the maximum transfer ability between the generation and consumer’s region while satisfying the system limitation. Moreover, by applying renewable energy resources such as wind farms, with high penetration, managing and evaluating the system has become an important issue and, consequently, brought new challenges in the power market. In this paper, a method is proposed to evaluate the optimal TTC in the presence of wind farms. In order to simulate the system state, sequential Monte Carlo is used. Optimal power flow along with two models for penalty cost is used as decision-making method in order to establish the optimum TTC level. Reliability test system from IEEE is considered to present the effectiveness of the proposed method.
