Abstract

This paper investigates an energy management strategy to schedule charging/discharging of EVs in the microgrid. Presence of renewable resources such as wind turbine and photovoltaic in the microgrid and their intermittent nature causes that we use a special pattern to achieve buying/selling cost signal for EVs charging/discharging process. In order to reach this goal, a new method is proposed to obtain cost signal in order to manage charging/discharging of EVs. Based on this strategy, by the application of cost signal obtained from the prediction of renewable generation and day-ahead load, the exchanged power between EVs and microgrid is scheduled and consequently the power balance is kept in the microgrid. By using this strategy, the microgrid performance improves in comparison with that of with unscheduled charging/discharging process. The assessment of the microgrid in isolated mode shows that with the application of proposed scheme, the system has frequency stability. But results demonstrate that, in unscheduled scheme, the frequency instability occurs in some hours.
