Abstract
Birjandtrombella farniae Noei gen. et sp. nov. (Acari: Trombidiformes: Prostigmata: Trombellidae) is described
and illustrated from larvae ectoparasitic on moths (Lepidoptera: Crambidae, Noctuidae, Pyralidae), from
Birjand city, South Khorasan province, Iran. Moth families Crambidae and Pyralidae are recorded as the host
of Trombellidae larvae, for the first time. Also, a key to genera of Trombellinae Thor, 1935 of the world (larva)
is presented.
