دکتر مصطفی واحدیپور دکترای مهندسی برق خود را از دانشگاه بیرجند در سال ۲۰۱۷ دریافت کرد و تحقیقات وی در این دوره بر مدیریت تقاضا در میکروگریدهای هوشمند با تأکید بر تضمین امنیت سیستم متمرکز بود. در همین دوره، وی موفق به دریافت بورسیهای معتبر از وزارت علوم، تحقیقات و فناوری ایران شد که به او این امکان را داد تا به عنوان محقق مهمان در دانشگاه آلبورگ دانمارک (۲۰۱۶–۲۰۱۷) به تحقیق بپردازد.
پس از دریافت دکترا، دکتر واحدیپور مسیر تحصیلی خود را به عنوان استادیار در دانشگاه بیرجند ادامه داد و نه تنها در تحقیق، بلکه در تربیت نسلهای آینده مهندسان نیز نقش داشت. در سال ۲۰۲۰، او موفق به دریافت بورس تحقیقاتی بینالمللی در دانشگاه سالرنو، ایتالیا شد که در آنجا تحقیقات خود را بر مدیریت انرژی در شبکههای هوشمند متمرکز کرد. این همکاری، تخصص تحقیقاتی وی را گسترش داد و منجر به تعامل قویتر با دانشگاه واسا فنلاند و دانشگاه آلبورگ دانمارک شد.
در حال حاضر، دکتر واحدیپور دانشیار گروه برق دانشگاه بیرجند، دانشکده فنی فردوس است و در کنار آن، عضو هیئت مدیره شرکت سها نیروی ساویس است که یک شرکت فناور در زمینه مدیریت انرژی در ایران است. نقشهای دوگانه او در دانشگاه و صنعت این امکان را به او داده تا بتواند فاصله بین تحقیق و راهحلهای عملی در مدیریت انرژی را پر کند.
وی با چاپ بیش از ۴۰ مقاله در مجلات علمی، ارائه ۵۳ مقاله کنفرانسی و نگارش چهار کتاب درسی و کمک درسی، سهم بزرگی در پیشرفت تحقیقات سیستمهای انرژی داشته است. او همچنین به عنوان داور معتبر علمی شناخته میشود و بیش از ۳۰۰ مقاله علمی و کنفرانسی را داوری کرده است.
