چکیده مقاله
Water pollution and wastewater treatment problems are considered one of the biggest challenges in the world today, and choosing the best way to remove these types of pollutants is very important. Pharmaceutical industries and agricultural sectors emit large amounts of residues containing toxic pollutants at small levels, which have a serious impact on the environment and human health. During the Covid-19 pandemic, high use of antivirals, antibiotics, antiprotozoals and glucocorticoids in the treatment of this virus has been reported. The influx of emerging, prescribed pharmaceutical pollutants in the environment continuously affects human health and human cycles (even in small amounts) by contaminating water and aquatic life. Innovation and technological advances in materials science and engineering in the past decades have led to the development of a wide range of techniques for wastewater treatment, including filtration, sedimentation, multistage coagulation and flocculation, etc. However, there are many limitations to purification. Among the most important limitations are: high energy requirement, low economic benefit, operational difficulty, inefficiency, and poor recyclability. Therefore, the aim of this research is to review the processes of removing these drugs from water resources with an emphasis on adsorbents
