چکیده مقاله

This study aimed to investigate the effects of ensiling rumen contents from various animals, supplemented with pomegranate peel and broiler litter, on the blood parameters of fattening lambs. The experiment involved 20 male Khorasan Kurdish lambs with an initial average weight of 30.60 ± 2.27 kg, which were randomly allocated into four groups (5 lambs per group). The experimental treatments included: (1) corn silage (control), (2) ensiled processed cow rumen contents, (3) ensiled processed sheep rumen contents, and (4) ensiled processed goat rumen contents. The results demonstrated no significant differences in blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, or HDL levels among the treatments. However, the control group exhibited significantly lower total serum protein levels compared to the other groups. The observed numerical increases in cholesterol and HDL levels in the rumen content silage treatments may be attributed to their higher fat content. Furthermore, the reduced blood glucose levels in the control group may suggest improved ruminal fermentation efficiency compared to the other treatments. In conclusion, ensiled rumen contents supplemented with the investigated additives could represent a viable alternative for the partial replacement of conventional feed without adversely affecting the metabolic health of the animals.
