While focusing on new and cutting-edge forms of urban agriculture, its historic continuity or discontinuity within the city has rarely if ever been a subject of investigation. Frank Lohrberg, Katharina Christenn, Ayça Sancar and Axel Timpe from RWTH Aachen University (Germany) recently edited / authored a book entitled Urban Agricultural Heritage. With this book they point out for the first time that urban agriculture is not an invention of the twenty-first century, rather it has been linked to the city throughout history
