In the context of this book, Baubotanik represents a form of architecture where structures are formed through the interaction of natural plant growth and technical joining methods. This involves influencing the growth of trees, or parts of trees, in a way that they merge and connect with non-living components, resulting in an entity that combines organic and technical elements. Therefore, two fields of horticulture and architecture form the basis of Baubotanik knowledge, and therefore it is an interdisciplinary science. For this reason, many topics in this book have an arboreal approach. Meanwhile, other sources do not have this feature. Ludwig and Schönle book’s practical and specialized look at the role of living trees in architecture has made the reader clearly and easily understands the role of Baubotanik in architecture and landscaping.
